Code of Conduct

As a graduate of the Academy of Modern Celebrancy, I uphold the highest levels of service and professionalism. I work with integrity and transparency.

The work of Willow Tree Ceremonies is underpinned by three important principles:

Representative Working

I work within the framework Code of Conduct of the Academy of Modern Celebrancy as a professional body for independent celebrants. As a graduate of the Academy, I work in a non-judgemental way, and with honesty and respect.

I will support other celebrants, as needed, to carry out their commitments. I will work within a community that privileges collaboration over competition

Service Commitment

I will serve each client with respect, sensitivity, and professionalism, providing all services in a timely manner.

I will avoid all forms of discrimination and harassment, treating everyone fairly and without prejudice, regardless of age, disability, gender, marital status, race, religion, philosophical belief, sex or sexual orientation.

I will provide a service that recognises the unique personalities of the client, being sensitive to their needs, wishes, values, religious or spiritual beliefs, and cultural backgrounds.

I will offer every client a personalised ceremony that includes their story or information given to me through consultations and questionnaires.

I will ensure that clients have complete choice of and final say over their ceremonies, and that my own personal beliefs are immaterial to this process.

I will work diligently to provide a ceremony that is as accurate as possible in all respects, including the pronunciation of the names of people, places, and things.

I will ensure that all clients are prepared for their ceremony, conducting a talk through or rehearsal as necessary.

I will prepare fully to ensure that I deliver the ceremony in a highly professional, manner.

Professional Behaviours

I will dress appropriately and in a fashion that represents the professional standards of the Academy of Modern Celebrancy.

I will ensure that I am available to clients for discussion in relation to their ceremony, and will provide clear opportunities for meetings in ways that are preferred by the client (in person, online, via telephone).

I will work in a timely fashion, ensuring that timescales are clear, and that I arrive in good time for ceremonies.

I am committed to upholding all professional standards to ensure that clients have the ceremony that they wish for.

Legalities

I will ensure that each client understands the legal requirements of their ceremony, and I will not mislead.

I will not include anything in a ceremony that will contravene the laws of the United Kingdom in relation to different kinds of ceremonies.

Professional Updating

I will undertake additional training on a regular basis to ensure that my knowledge and skills are at the forefront of the industry.
